I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with dual minors in Primate Biology and Spanish from Duke University. During my undergraduate years, I interned at on-campus psychology labs and at Johns Hopkins Kennedy Krieger Institute. I also studied in Bolivia, where I spent six months working in a Bolivian hospital. This experience helped expand my fluency in Spanish-language medical vocabulary. I then moved on to pursue a doctorate in developmental psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I taught college-level Abnormal Psychology. During graduate school, I was taking non-credit courses in Medical Spanish at the University of Alabama and began volunteering as an interpreter in a local clinic. I found I enjoyed interpreting so much that I left graduate school and completed the Spanish community facilitator and medical interpreting program at Durham Technical Community College. Since then, I have shadowed interpreters from prestigious hospitals and interned at local clinics as a volunteer interpreter. I have been tutoring informally for more than a dozen years. I began tutoring when I was still in high school, and am especially passionate about tutoring students in Spanish and Psychology. I have also assisted students with their college application essays. I am skilled in tutoring for both the Verbal and Writing aspects of the SAT and ACT. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities, and I love to pass along my passion for the subjects that I teach. In my spare time, I like to read, do charity work, and walk my dog.
